The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) advocate that auditing and performance review are the final steps in the health and safety management control cycle.
To this extent the HSE use the following definition – ‘The structured process of collecting independent information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability for the total health and safety management system and drawing up plans for corrective action’.

The CBG safety survey is a scheduled inspection of the workplace to identify uncontrolled hazards with a detailed action report providing both legal and practical advice.

CBG safety projects are a detailed examination of a narrower field of activity i.e. major key areas revealed by safety surveys. This may involve individual activities, machines or processes involving specific problems such as poor housekeeping, slip and trip hazards, guarding, eye protection, hearing protection, etc.
